OUR PASSION FOR THE ENVIRONMENT

At Stay of Queenstown we tread carefully on the land.

KAITIAKITANGA is a Maori term that means guardianship of the land. We never take our stunning environment for granted and are committed to preserving our 'slice or paradise' here in Queenstown, New Zealand - we do everything we can to reduce our footprint on the environment.

If you as our guest notice anywhere we can reduce our carbon footprint on the environment, please email stayqueenstown@gmail.com. We would appreciate your knowledge, feedback and ideas.

We are proactive towards the environment by:

Proactive recycling

Provide recycling bins in each suite for guest use

Donating all goods from our suites to the local hospice store whenever anything is replaced or updated

Buying local produce, to support local and to reduce freight.

No paper or plastic utensils.

LED, energy saving bulbs used throughout our premises.

All of our rubbish bags are home compostable

We provide our guests with 100% compostable slippers

Food scraps and waste are put into our onsite compost to create zero food waste.

Our suites are all double glazed and fully insulated to contain heat, reducing the energy resources we consume.

No single use plastic bottles in our bathrooms, everything is refilled with local NZ natural product  (the large 5L bottles are sent back for refilling - creating zero plastic waste into our land fill)

Plant base cleaning products and a colour coded cloth system for each cleaning purpose .

All of our beds are nationally made.

Furniture is wooden and purchased in NZ.

Fresh organic grown seasonal vegetables, fruits and flowers on site.

All of our condiments are in glass jars and breakfast treat bags are served in brown paper bags or reusable containers.

Locally made honey and Wanaka chocolate is our treat of choice for our guests.

We have joined a new local initiative, Bee the Change NZ, whereby we have sponsored a bee hive to be placed in our Queenstown Gardens. This will help our local bee population thrive and aid in the pollination of our beautiful plant life here in Queenstown. Feel free to visit our hive when walking through the park.

We have chosen the Southland hospice to be our charity of choice where staff will volunteer in store and an annual donation will be given to the hospice.

The Tiaki Promise is a nation-wide commitment from both visitors and locals to care for New Zealand, for now and for future generations. It encompasses three elements:

Caring for land, sea and nature by treading lightly and leaving no trace.

Travelling safely, by showing care and consideration for all. Finally, respecting culture by travelling with an open heart and mind. We encourage our visitors to embrace the Tiaki Promise as we do ourselves within The Stay of Queenstown team.

MANAAKITANGA - OUR 'SOUTHERN HOSPITALITY'

In Maori culture, Manaakitanga is a traditional value that is central to society, and inspires the way that travellers are made to feel welcome. Ingrid and the team at Stay of Queenstown are extremely proud to host our guests and showcase beautiful Queenstown, and we aim to embody this value in everything we do. Providing safe and peaceful accommodation, recommending the best things to do in the region, to going above and beyond to ensure your stay is one to remember. This is reflected in our TripAdvisor reviews for Stay of Queenstown.
